Our Story

Jorge and Tanya’s story began shortly after they both moved to Seattle. Eager to meet new people, they joined a local recreational dodgeball league and, by chance, were placed on the same team. It didn’t take long for them to click. By the end of the season, Tanya invited Jorge to join her team again. Wanting to deepen their connection, they then signed up for salsa classes, where they spent more time getting to know each other. Through the laughter, the missteps, and the thrill of learning something new together, their bond grew even stronger.

Whether it’s spontaneous road trips, flights to old friends, or hiking the pacific northwest, they love exploring the world together. At home, they share their lives with two eccentric dogs, who bring even more joy and energy to their busy lives.

What truly drives them, however, is their love for bringing people together. Whether through travel, hobbies, or simply sharing a meal, Jorge and Tanya believe in the power of connection. That’s why they’re so excited to celebrate their wedding—to gather their favorite people, from near and far, and continue creating memories with the ones they love. They can’t wait to start this next chapter of their adventure, surrounded by all of you.

Padrinos
in the Mexican Culture

In Mexican wedding tradition, a padrino (godfather) or madrina (godmother) is a special person who helps support the couple by sponsoring a part of the wedding—whether it’s the rings, the lasso, the bouquet, or even the cake or music. It’s a beautiful and culturally respected way to be involved in the celebration and to show support as two people embark on their journey as a married couple.

If you'd like to contribute as a padrino or madrina by sponsoring a meaningful element of our day, we’d be honored!

Wedding Party

Ashley Chinzi

I met Tanya while we were both working at Sears in college, and what started as a workplace acquaintance quickly grew into a commiserating friendship when we ended up as roommates. We survived heinous roommates, the growing pains of college, and   were there for each other as we figured out what the heck to do with our lives. Even after moving far apart to chase our dreams, Tanya has remained one of the most important people in my life—always inspiring me to be more adventurous and go after what I want.

When Tanya told me, just five months into dating Jorge, that she knew he was the one, I couldn’t wait to meet him. I had never heard her say that about anyone before! And the moment I met Jorge, I understood why—he is one of the most kindhearted, genuine people I’ve ever met. His soul is pure and so full of love for Tanya. Watching them together, especially during an unforgettable trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, only confirmed what I already knew: they are absolutely perfect for each other. I couldn’t be happier to stand by Tanya’s side as she marries the love of her life, and I can't wait to celebrate this incredible couple!

Emily Toribio

I’ve known Tanya since the day I was born when she tried to process a return on me using the nearby nurse. She had learned the art of returns through our shopaholic mother and reasoned with herself that she could exchange me for the baby brother she had been begging for. Unfortunately for her she hadn’t quite learned about the no return policy on babies. But I guess she figured out early that sometimes the best things in life are worth keeping—just like a great sister and a perfect partner! Here’s to a lifetime of happiness together Jorge & Tanya, no returns!

Samantha Robinson

Like Tanya and Jorge, Sam is a Seattle transplant. Sam and Tanya met virtually through work during Covid and became fast friends. Since then, she has been lucky enough to see Noah Kahan with Tanya and Jorge in Vancouver and near Portland and even accompanied Jorge on his first backpacking trip.

Sam enjoys listening to Taylor Swift, reading fantasy novels to screech with Tanya and Jorge about, and fantasizing about adopting every stray cat she meets. Sam is so excited to celebrate their wedding in the PNW, where so many wonderful memories have been made already.

Monica Ramos

Pinkies connected by the red string of fate, Tanya and I went to high school together, but didn't become friends until freshman year at UNR at which point we became inseparable.

We've remained close through all these years and all these men and I've never seen her happier than when she's with Jorge. After having her in my wedding, I'm so excited to be in hers, but in another life I would have loved to do laundry and taxes with this girl.

Marie Ann Toribio

Hello there, Marie Ann Toribio here, cousin of the bride.

Known Tanya all my life (she was Denise to me and my other cousins until we were proly like 10 maybe 11) She has been the baby of the “older kids” so I have always felt like she was more like a little sister instead of a cousin. Tanya has always been an independent soul, never holding back on doing her own thing when its came to basically anything, from moving states and going all in to her every day interests.

Haven’t known Jorge for a long time but he has brought happiness to her life and that's all that matters to me. My favorite memory with them would be their impromptu wedding in Mexico December 2024

Jovonie Tejero

My name is Jovonie and I am so honored to be part of Tanya and Jorge’s big day. I met Tanya in the 3rd grade, so I am her longest best friend and I met Jorge in Mexico for Tanya’s 30’s birthday. One of my favorites memories with Tanya and Jorge, is when we went up on an airbaloon in Mexico and literally seeing their love glistening in the beautiful sunrise. I can’t wait to see my Pocahontas get her happily ever after.

Neil Choi

I’m Neil Choi, a former colleague turned close friend, and I’m honored to be part of Tanya and Jorge’s big day! I first met Jorge through my girlfriend, who he was in a Dungeons and Dragons group with, and ended up on the same team as him at Sam’s Club. Over the years, we’ve shared so many wonderful moments, especially our team meet ups in Dallas. One of my favorite memories though is after he left the company and moved to Seattle for his new role, where I met Tanya for the first time. Jorge and I spent the week working remotely from his mid city apartment and exploring his new home.

I’m elated to celebrate the marriage of Tanya and Jorge as they embark on their forever together. It’s been amazing to see all the places they have traveled together and I can’t wait to be there cheering them on as they take this next step.

Mac Nghiem

My name is Mac Nghiem and I'm part of Jorge's side of the wedding. I am always up for trying new things first hand which leads to an ever growing list of side projects. I am into all sorts of things from games and cooking to photography and woodworking. My life motto is: "Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things."

I first met Jorge when we were freshmen in college. In a school of over 50,000 students, we were fated to be in the same dorm. I remember thinking at first that Jorge was overly sociable and a bit overwhelming, but it turns out that every interaction we had was genuine and caring. We had countless adventures and late night conversations. We have seen each other grow and accomplish so much over the years.

My favorite memory with Jorge and Tanya was going to Olympic National Park. The day was loosely planned the night before with no real itinerary except visiting the park. We spent the entire day together from morning to midnight exchanging lots of laughs and stories.

I'm so excited for these two and their big day! It's rare to see a love as authentic and effortless as theirs. Jorge and Tanya are truly meant for each other.

Alfredo Montes

A little about myself. I like to run ultramarathons, huge cat daddy, and recently became a new father.

I first met Jorge at our Whitis Court Fig program where they gathered the best engineering minds at UT Austin haha we really just hit it off and hung out with all the same people. Even after graduation and moving, we still kept in touch. He even came to Houston for a concert on the weekend Hurricane Harvey hit and he got stranded with me and my family for a couple of days. Years later he told me and our college friends that he had found someone he was really interested in which turned out to be Tanya. He always sounded so happy talking about her and I met her in person for the first time at a friend's surprise bday party as well as the day my wife and I announced our pregnancy to our close group of friends. She was very funny and kind and already knew all of the inside jokes about Jorge so no awkwardness there. Glad these two found each other because they make a great pair.

Bryan Solero

Hello, I’m Bryan!!

I’ve known Jorge since he first started working at Tyson Foods where he joined my team. We’ve worked together for a few years and I took him under my wing teaching him all I know with my technical background.  Later I left the company and joined another one, we’ve always maintained our friendship by having board game nights or meeting after work to grab some dinner at B-DUBS. Later, I left Bentonville, AR where we used to live, and moved to Denver, CO.

I got a chance to meet up with Jorge in Denver where he saw a baseball game, later in a few months I got a chance to meet my best friend and wife. Also close to that time, Jorge met the love of his life and we were blessed to have Jorge and Tanya at our wedding as part of my groomsmen. I’m excited and honored to be by his side during this Majestic day.
